Advanced Wreck Diver

This course provides training and experience to competently conduct advanced wreck dives. This program includes penetration skills and techniques. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper techniques, equipment requirements and hazards of wreck diving. Advanced Wreck Diver courses are primarily conducted in the Florida Keys on the wrecks of the Spiegel Grove, the Duane, and the Vandenberg.

 

 

  1. Minimum age 18
  2. Certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
  3. Provide proof of a minimum of 50 logged dives
  4. Be certified as Basic Wreck or Cavern Diver or equivalent
TDI Advanced Wreck Diving Diver Manual
The TDI Advanced Wreck Diver course requires a minimum of 6 dives conducted over a minimum of 5 days. The first day will be spent in the classroom discussing dive planning and procedures and will include time for equipment configuration and exam review.  The following days will be spent in the water conducting advanced wreck dives which are appropriate to the diver’s experience and training level.
  1. Mask and fins
  2. Backup mask recommended
  3. Exposure protection (dry suit and undergarment or 5-7mm wet suit)
  4. Dual primary cylinders (sidemount or backmount)
  5. Two first and second stage regulators
  6. One SPG for backmount or two SPGs for sidemount
  7. 7′ long hose
  8. BCD inflator hose and/or dry suit inflator hose
  9. One decompression cylinder (minimum 40 cf)
  10. One first and second stage with SPG for deco cylinder
  11. Buoyancy Compensating Device (BCD)
  12. Two depth and timing devices
  13. Two cutting devices
  14. One primary light
  15. Two backup lights
  16. Primary reel with a minimum of 300 ft of line
  17. One safety reel with a minimum of 125ft of line (two recommended)
  18. Lift bag/surface marker buoy (minimum of 25lbs lift)
  19. Three directional line arrows
  20. Jon line (recommended)
  21. Waterproof notebook and underwater slate
